Hot Mess Travelers: Clusterf— in Coba

Little did she know she was on camera, too.

LOCATION: Coba, Mexico

VIOLATION: It’s not that this tourist in Mexico has been hitting the tacos a tad too hard — happens to the best of us. No, amigas, her choice of an outfit — or lack thereof — is the problema here. For those of you who haven’t been there, Coba is a magnificent, tree-shaded Maya site in the Yucatan Peninsula that has a number of sacred buildings, including those where worship took place. The vibe is mysterious, peaceful and powerful — not a place for a bikini top (and ESPECIALLY when one bump on the bike could easily snap that over-strained back strap like a rubber band). Take this hot mess to Cancun, chica, where you can grab a grande margarita and fit right in.

And check out that sunburn! This pop tart’s got more than one good reason to cover up!

I don’t know, I totally get what you’re saying — but I wouldn’t say it. Tell us about the place — not the people who you’d prefer not to be there.

Fair point, Laura. (We’ll be the first to admit we open our mouths when we shouldn’t–and often). What we thought made this particular case a Hot Mess candidate was not so much her choice in attire but WHERE she chose to wear it. Despite the ruins being a tourist haven, it’s still important to remember these are sacred ruins. We simply thought that warranted a little more discretion, but to each their own. Regardless, we appreciate you sharing your opinion.
